SEN Teaching AssistantGrantham, LincolnshireFull-Time, Term Time OnlyMon to Thurs: 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM, Fri: 8:15 AM – 2:45 PMImmediate StartWe are looking for a dedicated Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to join our team at a specialist school that caters to students aged 7 to 18 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with a particular focus on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.Role & Responsibilities:
- Support students during both indoor and outdoor activities, helping to create an engaging and positive learning environment.
- Assist with childcare tasks and contribute to the effective delivery of educational programs.
- Stay alert for signs of distress or safeguarding concerns, responding appropriately to ensure students’ well-being.
- Build meaningful relationships with students through listening, engaging in conversations, and observing behavior.
- Participate in care planning, reviews, and other key meetings, contributing to holistic support for each student.
- Attend supervisions and team meetings to ensure smooth transitions and adherence to school policies.
- Manage and support students' individual risks during educational activities.
- Prepare, display, and celebrate students' work, helping to enhance their learning experience.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals such as Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Residential Care Workers to provide comprehensive support.
- Patience, reliability, and the ability to work independently with a proactive and flexible approach.
- Previous experience working with children and young people with SEND, particularly those with SEMH needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and ADHD.
- GCSEs in Math, English, and Science.
- A relevant qualification in education or SEND (e.g., CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Level 3 Award in Special Educational Needs and Disability, etc.) is desirable.
- Strong planning, organisational, and time-management skills.
- A self-starter who demonstrates motivation, initiative, and a commitment to student success.
- A full manual driving licence (desirable due to the location and nature of activities).
