Job Description

Working on behalf of our client based on a site in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. We are currently recruiting for a PLC Engineer for a contract position.


Key Duties:

  • Design, develop, and program PLC control systems for water treatment, distribution, and wastewater systems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve PLC and SCADA system issues.
  • Commission and test new PLC installations, ensuring they meet industry and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PLC systems with instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to site operators and maintenance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety and industry standards, including health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in site surveys, client meetings, and project reviews to ensure successful project delivery.


What we are looking for in the successful candidate:

  • Proven experience working as a PLC Engineer in the water industry (water treatment, wastewater, or distribution systems).
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Schneider experience essential)
  • Experience with SCADA systems and HMI programming.
  • Understanding of water industry processes, control systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and telemetry systems in the water industry.
  • Knowledge of networking and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet).
  • Experience in system integration and control panel design.
