Planning Manager – Power & Renewables - ScotlandAA Euro Group are currently working with an international multi-disciplinary engineering services contractor and looking for an experienced Planning Manager to join their team.Role PurposeAs Planning Manager responsible for the P&R (Power & Renewables) business unit in Scotland / UK, you will coordinate the development of multiple project plans of varying levels of complexity while simultaneously monitoring the status and performance of live projects, ensuring that in house Process and Procedures are adhered to and contributing towards improvement of same, the Planning Manager must endeavor to influence a favorable outcome to Kirby at all stages of The Project and must escalate and flag internally to the Senior Planning Manager immediately where there is risk to Kirby.Key Functions of the Planning Manager

  • Develop Schedule’s and Histograms as required by the Bid Manager for all bids in the region
  • Sign–off and approve Schedule’s and Histograms produced by individual Planners
  • Resolve extraordinary planning related issues that arise on live projects that cannot be dealt with by the project planner
  • Review progress reports and dashboards on all projects weekly
  • Issue Regional report to the Planning Manager weekly
  • Mentor the planners to ensure they develop and expand their knowledge
  • Audit each live project Planning is supporting to ensure compliance with Planning Process
Planning Manager ResponsibilitiesIn conjunction with your project team, you will be responsible for the execution of various stages of a project as follows:Business Unit SupportPoint of contact for the Business Unit Operations Manager for all Planning related issues Must escalate to Senior Planning Manager if issues cannot be addressedManage the Development of Schedule’s and Histograms as required by the Pre-Construction Team for all bids in the regionAudit each live project the Planning Dept. is supporting to ensure compliance with Planning ProcessProvide on the job mentoring to the Planners to ensure they develop and expand their knowledgeProgramme Co-ordination: Must ensure that the Planning process is initiated on each new projectMust ensure that Planners within team attend the Handover Meeting preparedMust ensure that the hours received from the QS encompass the totality of project scope and are the validated contracted hoursCo-ordinate the development of Plans and Planning Collateral for all relevant projectsSign–off and approve Schedule’s and Histograms produced by individual PlannersEnsure that a formal presentation of the Plan is completed on each projectResolve extraordinary planning related issues that arise on live projects that cannot be dealt with by the Project PlannerStatus and Performance Management: Ensure that projects are being tracked in consistent manner (in accordance with Planning Procedure and Process)Ensure that the project is being tracked, reported on and reforecast accurately and that the Planning Section of the Project Dashboards is updatedReview progress reports and dashboards on relevant projects weeklyIssue Regional report to the Senior Planning ManagerProvide clear communication of early warnings to the Senior Planning ManagerTimely Escalation of risk items to Senior Planning ManagerAdvise project teams on ways to improve performanceSupport Planner in the Schedule development and managementNecessary requirement of the Planning Manager3rd level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying or strong trades background coupled with technical ability may be considered5+ years’ experience / demonstrate ability to develop and implement plans, monitor and control workMust be capable of producing project plans from design and commercial informationMust be capable of mentoring & supervising intermediate and junior personnelMust be capable of coordinating the development of multiple project plansMicrosoft Project / P6 or Equivalent Planning Software, Microsoft Office tools – Excellent report writing skillsTime management essential to satisfy demands of busy scheduleDesired Competencies / special role requirementsResults OrientationCommercial AcumenCustomer Service/Relationship BuilderInnovates and Improves ProcessesAttention to DetailResilience and PositivismTeam Worker/Builder
