Catastrophe Analyst

Overview:


An excellent opportunity has arisen with a global financial services organisation for a Catastrophe Analyst. We are looking for a motivated individual with 3+ years of experience in catastrophe modeling to join the team. This role requires hands-on expertise with at least one vendor model, along with strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of vendor model data structures. Additional programming language such as R or VBA, or GIS skills, would be a valuable asset.


The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the science behind catastrophe modeling and demonstrate the ability to document concepts, conduct model reviews, and perform model validation as needed. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, non-technical manner to diverse audiences. In this dynamic environment, effective time management and the ability to juggle multiple projects and stakeholders are crucial. Skills and Experience:


  • 3+ Years of catastrophe modelling experience
  • Hands on and technical understanding of at least one vendor model (RMS preferred)
  • Strong SQL skills and a good understanding of vendor model data structures
  • An additional programming language (R / VBA) or GIS skills would be a bonus
  • An interest in the science of catastrophe modelling, and an ability to document concepts, model reviews, and model validation as required
  • An ability to communicate technical concepts in a non-technical manner, to a wide range of audiences
  • Effective time management skills and a willingness to work on multiple projects with multiple stakeholders, in a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
