About Growth CFO

Founded by experienced investors and Fractional CFOs - we are focused on serving early-stage high-growth businesses with seasoned, high calibre financial experts. We help our clients accelerate their growth journeys with a well-structured finance function, providing day-to-day insights as well as strategic guidance. Providing a Fractional CFO is often the start of the relationship.


We operate small panel of CFOs who will seek to build lasting and repeating relationships with - allowing those who work with us to share networks, insights and problem solving.


Our clients

We are specifically set-up to serve start-ups and scale-ups: early stage, high-growth businesses. Whether at seed-round or right through to Series C – what they have in common is a deep ambition to grow and effect change in their chosen industry, whatever sector they are in.


Our need

We are currently looking to add a Fractional CFO to our panel with specific skills/experience to serve a client through the next stage if their growth. This includes:

  • US growth
  • Healthcare and/or product (manufacturing)-based business models
  • Financing & fundraising (i.e. equipment finance / HP and/or VC & angel)
  • Startup/scaleup experience


In addition the ideal candidate will demonstrate a number of the following:

  • Significant financial experience from a blue-chip background - whether in investment, advisory, banking, consultancy, practice or in-house;
  • Ideally a finance qualification such as ACA, CIMA or CFA – although this is not essential;
  • A willingness to get involved at all levels - an ability to shift between the details/ process and the high-level strategic is key;
  • An understanding, interest or experience of the start-up world;
  • Previous CFO experience is helpful but not a must.


The role

The assignment will be on a temporary and fractional basis around 4-6 days per month per client.

The assignment will involve taking the lead on financial matters and vary depending on the needs of the business at the time but will likely include:

  • Implementing or improving financial controls and operations and assisting in the building of a finance team - including as part of global expansion;
  • Developing a robust reporting structure, developing KPIs and board and investor reporting;
  • Cashflow and financial modelling;
  • Assistance in preparation of pitch materials and negotiating fund raises;
  • Managing banking relationships and debt raising;
  • Strategic advice and analysis; and
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and ‘right hand’ to the CEO.
