Job Description

Optimisation SME (Electricity System Operator)

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced Optimisation SME (Electricity System Operator) to be based in their client's office in Wokingham , UK.

This is a hybrid role - you can work remotely in the UK and attend the Wokingham office 3 days per week.

This is a 6+ month temporary contract to start ASAP.

Day rate: Competitive Market rate.

This is a pivotal role for Electricity System Operator balancing program and work with Business and QA and Developer to support the testing and development of the Modern Dispatch Optimisation Algorithm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the project team and the customer team on the Dispatch algorithm as part of Balancing Transformation programs
  • Support in quality assurance and development of modern optimisation algorithm
  • Coordinate with different functional teams and business to review and test scenarios
  • Perform the exploratory test on and find the defects and observation
  • Help in the development for requirement tools and automation of testing the algorithm

Key Requirements:

  • Experience solving the optimisation problem using various techniques
  • Strong understanding of developing custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets
  • Strong understanding of mathematical programming solver available for LP, QP and MIP (MILP, MIQP, and MIQCP) problems
  • Understanding of data collection, preprocessing and analysis
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (Python, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Python, Gurobi Optimizer
  • Optimisation problem solving
  • Bachelor's/master's degree in Electrical/Electronic or Computer Engineering or similar technical domain
