Job Description

The Registered (Home) Manager has operational responsibility for the children's home and ensuring quality standards are maintained. The post-holder will be expected to register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager (as set out in the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015) on completion of their 'fit person' interview. The postholder will assume legal accountability for the satisfactory operation of the home in line with Ofsted requirements. Supported by a Service Manager (the Responsible Individual) the successful applicant will have previous experience of managing a Children's Home, working with multi-disciplinary teams and leading and managing residential care workers.
This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern:
The usual working pattern is Monday to Friday; however, a flexible working approach is taken to meet the needs of the residents and staff.
What you'll need to succeed:
The successful applicant will be educated to NVQ level 5 with a willingness to undertake further academic studies and/or training to enhance the service understanding and capacity to respond to the complex needs children and young people may present with. They will have significant management experience, knowledge, skills and experience of working with children, young people and their parent / carers, and be able to demonstrate a track record of successful performance in residential care provision. The successful applicant will have a curiosity about behaviours and a commitment to the best outcomes for children and young people; emotional resilience and a good working knowledge of Ofsted inspections and Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
What you'll get in return:
A competitive salary, support from the Service Manager (Responsible Individual) and the broader Multi-disciplinary Team, including good reflective supervision. In addition, quality training and career development is provided for all staff. The Council also offers a relocation package to support people moving to Cornwall.
