The Client - Curo are Partnering with a Global Company who deliver their B2B Customers cutting-edge technology. They design, manufacture and supply advanced satellite navigation test and simulation systems, many of which comprise radio frequency signal generators plus computer systems running complex application software; all designed in-house.

The Candidate - As a Senior FPGA Engineer in the Hardware team, you will help to innovate and develop technology for the companies Simulator Products based on leading-edge technology to drive the next generation of Communications products in the Positioning Technology Line of Business. Specifically, you will be required to develop, test and integrate new features and updates to FPGA implementations.

This role would suit a candidate with demonstrable industry experience of VHDL Product Specification & Development, test bench development and Scripting experience, working within a structured engineering environment that includes Requirements Analysis/Definition, Design/Implementation, Defect Tracking, and Testing.

We are looking for a candidate with Xilinx FPGAs as opposed to Altera FPGAs or ASICs. The successful candidate would will have relevant industrial experience and strong FPGA firmware programming skills using VHDL in a high-speed logic (>100MHz) environment, as well as strong experience in digital electronics.
The Role - This role sits in the Positioning Technology business unit, which is where the world's leading companies turn when they need to accelerate their time-to-market for next-generation navigation and communication systems. In fact, every significant industry test in the last six years for devices deployed on land, at sea, in the air and in space, has used their test systems as the benchmark. They are continually recognised by customers, industry, press, and technology associations for innovative thinking and ground-breaking products. The navigation and communications market has untapped potential. The boundaries of how fast, far, and accurately voice and data can be transmitted have yet to be reached, or even defined. The company's solutions are paving the way for tomorrow's communications.

Key Duties -

  • FPGA implementation from either internally generated design specifications or externally published Interface Control Documentation.
  • Design test/verification and qualification.
  • Support and future development of the company's existing Embedded firmware applications.
  • Provide engineering support to internal Supply Chain and Client Services departments.
  • Participate in the maintenance and enhancement of FPGA design processes and practices.
  • Contribute to the on-going development and maintenance of existing products and features.
  • Produce clear documentation to support the integration, system verification, configuration and use of the FPGA features.

Requirements -
Education and Experience:

  • Honours degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar discipline.
  • Demonstrable post-graduate related experience of VHDL project specification and development, test bench development and Scripting experience, working within a structured engineering environment that includes Requirements Analysis/Definition, Design/Implementation, Defect Tracking, and Testing.
  • Relevant industrial experience and strong FPGA firmware programming skills using VHDL in a high-speed logic (>100MHz) environment.
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGAs as opposed to Altera FPGAs or ASICs is preferable.
  • Strong experience in digital electronics.

  • Compilers: EDK hardware platform, Greenhills.
  • Operating systems: Real Time applications running under Linux or Windows.
  • Experience in Digital Modulation techniques, GNSS, Communications theory, Signal Processing, Encryption processes and Matlab are all advantages.
