London, United Kingdom Slaughter and May Full time
Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW //

Would you like to join one of the world’s most prestigious law firms?

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a professional, technically strong and engaging individual to join us as an Associate in our London-based Construction and Projects team.

The team advises on the full range of transactions in the sector including advising employers, sponsors, lenders, contractors and other members of the supply chain on all procurement, construction and O&M/FM aspects of real estate developments, infrastructure assets, energy projects and public-private partnerships. We are known for advising on high profile, complex and technically challenging projects. We often advise on the highest profile, most complex and most technically challenging construction projects.

This role will suit associates who have experience and exposure to a broad range of construction work, and would like to experience a broad diet of innovative and strategically important transactions. Candidates should be enthusiastic about retaining a broad practice and prepared to stretch themselves intellectually. We expect our associates to take on responsibility from an early stage, from client contact and managing transactions to coordinating internal teams and other groups. We do, however, aim to ensure associates are given as much responsibility and client contact as they are ready for.

OUR TEAM //

Our construction and projects practice consists of 2 partners and one Senior Counsel, supported by circa 10 associates. The team sits within the firm’s wider Real Estate Group, and provides predominantly non-contentious advice on both international and UK projects. Our team is recognised for providing industry leading advice on the most sophisticated projects and has strong rankings in both Chambers and Partners and Legal500.

Our team has advised on many of the largest and most innovative construction project globally, many of which are considered to be ‘first-of-a-kind’. Our focus is on quality over quantity; we do not have a large team doing small to mid-market deals. Instead, we focus on high-value, complex and challenging transactions which are interesting and varied.

The firm is organised into groups that undertake a general spread of work, encouraging lawyers to work on an extensive range of matters. Much of the work spans the globe, with transactions involving our overseas offices as well as leading independent law firms in many other jurisdictions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES //

The key responsibilities of this role are set out below and there may be others which are not listed.

  • Advising on the legal and commercial aspects of a wide range of construction matters
  • Drafting and reviewing relevant documentation
  • Developing professional relationships with clients
  • Supporting the wider team in developing business and raising the profile of the firm
