Seeking a Systems Engineer with Linux experience.
We are working with a leading IT solutions and satellite communications organization with an exciting opportunity for an IT Systems Engineer with Linux experience to join their Enterprise Engineering team.

Hybrid working - 3 days in the offices based in Merstham/ Redhill, Surrey with some travel to client sites for meetings - UK and possibly international.

In this role you will assist with the systems engineering, design and development within the team. Using bespoke and open-source software, primarily Linux based to bring additional value to in-house and customer solutions.

Bespoke hardware/ software developments to enable customers to better manage site traffic and user experience
Meeting with customers to design on-board vessel and land networks for fleets and remote sites, bespoke designs, virtualization, high availability, traffic prioritization, integration & ongoing support
Off the shelf products/ developing in-house products/ system design and integration, testing/ evaluating, updates/ releases
Design & management of the organizations global VSAT, Starlink, OneWeb, LTE & POP Infrastructure and networks, including requirements capture, traffic shaping, traffic acceleration, VOIP and systems management.

VOIP platforms, email services, file replication, hotspot solutions, software distribution, web filtering, firewalling, virtualization, high availability and video entertainment services.

Act as in-house Product expert on selected systems and application, keeping abreast of new developments in the IT & Communications industry of key relevance.
Provide accurate and timely technical information or analyses on a variety of engineering investigations.
Support the Product Management team and / or Account Managers in dealings with customers on engineering issues, attend meetings and conduct demonstrations in support of Sales.
Own, investigate and resolve escalated engineering service issues.
If required to participate in a DVB Support Engineer shift rota
Degree (2:1) or HND/HNC in IT/Programming/Engineering related area AND/OR at least 3 years equivalent experience

TCP/IP networking concepts including Routing, Switching, Firewalling, including Layer 7 firewalls
Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL)
Some level of scripting/ programming capability/ keen interest in this area (e.g. A professional and flexible approach
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and independently on your own projects
Project planning and delivery experience
Windows Server and VMware intermediate-level experience
Hardware and/or software systems development and design experience
Programming knowledge - Scripting (Bash, Perl)
Working knowledge of satellite networks and infrastructure, firewalls and traffic shaping experience.
