Senior Network/Automation Engineer

SGX FX (a subsidiary of SGX Group) is hiring a new Senior Network/Automation Engineer to work in the on-premise Infrastructure Team supporting all SGX FX products: BidFX, MaxxTrader and CurrencyNode.

SGX FX offers globally distributed, highly available, low latency, cloud-hosted FX trading solutions for its sell side and buyside clients. You will have the opportunity to shape the future success of SGX FX’s high-performing mission critical networks. You can be based at either of our centrally located offices in London or Edinburgh which you would be expected to attend at least three days per week.

As a Senior Network/Automation Engineer you will be responsible for the following:

  • Build, improve and support SGX FX’s high-performing, highly resilient, low-latency on-premise networks.
  • Maintain and improve infrastructure-as-code.
  • Ensure efficient deployment and standard configuration management through automation.
  • Drive down latency through monitoring (e.g. Corvil), testing and continuous improvements.
  • Work with Arista, Fortinet, Cisco and A10 network devices.
  • Troubleshoot issues and handle incident escalations (occasionally out-of-hours) while promoting production change management processes and procedures.
  • Interface with all levels of the business and constantly strive to achieve full customer satisfaction.

The right candidate will have the following experience:

  • Minimum 3-10 years’ experience coding in Python (or other language to expert level and willingness to switch to Python), plus a desire to now apply this experience in a network environment or Corvil CCA/CCE Certificates or equivalent expert Corvil knowledge with at least 3-5 years of experience in delivering network projects in a latency-controlled environment and minimum 1-3 years of network automation experience (Training will be provided to cover whichever of the above you are deficient in).
  • Configuration of multiple network vendor products e.g. low latency Arista switches, Fortinet firewalls, Cisco routers and switches, A10 Load Balancers, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and Corvil.
  • Network automation: ideally Python, Jinja2, Rest API, Ansible but equivalents are welcome.
  • Advanced knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VRFs, QoS and route filtering, plus IPsec VPNs.
  • Knowledge of Git, SSL certificates, Netbox APIs. DNS, DHCP and Linux.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Approachable and a team player.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and a quick learner with excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Network certificates such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Fortinet NSE4/7, Corvil CCA or CCE.
  • Experience of working in the financial sector.
