GENERAL SUMMARY

Established in 1944, GD Engineering has gained a worldwide reputation for pioneering work in the design and manufacture of advanced pipeline access and pigging solutions. Serving the oil/gas, petrochemical, and industrial processing sectors, as well as the emerging biofuels industry, GD Engineering are instrumental in helping our customers to maximize their investment in pipeline infrastructure by facilitating any necessary maintenance or upgrade work.

The Bandlock 2 Quick Opening Closures enables fast access (either vertically or horizontally) to vessels once they have been depressurized. This can be done without the need for any special tools whilst ensuring the complete safety for field operatives through a series of proprietary protection mechanisms. BL2 Closures can be supplied compatible for use on vessels with size range 6" to 100" nominal diameter to ASME pressure class ratings #150 to #2500.

Suitable for both onshore and offshore deployment, our Pig Signaling Solutions allow the accurate monitoring of pigs/scrapers while carrying out cleaning or inspection activities, so that the precise location of any potential problems can be determined.

The Pig Stop & Bypass Mechanism is a GD Engineering patented product and is design specifically for Automated Multiple Pig Launchers. Our Worksop Facility is responsible for the design, build and testing of such equipment.

THE POSITION

• Primarily responsible for producing engineering design solutions and technical documentation for customer approval and manufacture of equipment.
• Utilising technical knowledge and experience, the successful applicant will be responsible for interpreting client specifications to create various data sheets, calculations, 3D assemblies/component parts, bills of materials, manufacturing drawings to satisfy the project needs, other internal departmental requirements, and support the manufacturing processes.
• The successful applicant will also be involved with Value Engineering and New Product Development projects for new and existing products.
• We are looking for experienced engineers who have experience in the field of Quick Opening Closures. Additional experience of designing Pig Signaling Solutions or Multiple Pig Launching Vessels will be an advantage.
• Full training and development will be provided for the role.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

• Contribute to the Engineering Team providing technical support and engineering design capability to the business.
• Create, check and approval of 3D models and layouts.
• Ensuring compliance with internal engineering standards, industry, and customer specifications.
• Familiar with the risks and hazards within the activities and processes of the role and procedures, practices, and measures in place to mitigate the risks.
• Helping the team to achieve project deadlines, delivered with desired quality, cost and efficiency.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers worldwide on mechanical design matters, ensuring specification compliance, integrity of interfacing information and sound engineering practice is being applied.
• Maintenance of company standards relating to discipline.
• Perform pressure calculations in accordance with International Design Codes (ASME VIII Div 1 & 2, PD55000 etc.).
• Provide support for any mechanical queries from the Sales Team and Operations.
• Provision of General Arrangement Drawings.
• Responsible for performing engineering calculations required to accurately determine product size, capacity, and performance to meet required design parameters.
• Support Design standardisation, process, tools, and calculations etc., to improve lead-times.
• Works to develop functional skills and advanced disciplines of self.
• All other duties as relevant to the post

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent based on related experience/training.
• Pressure Vessel knowledge and experience is most desirable.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience.
• Ability to demonstrate experience in undertaking mechanical engineering projects.
• Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor. Experience with FEA through ANSYS is considered desirable.
• Ability to guide and train colleagues.
• Ability to set and hit personal, team and project deadlines.
• An active and valuable team participant who puts the team and business success before individual success.
• An interest in self-development.
• Familiar with materials used for forgings.
• Familiar with Oil & Gas customer specifications
• Flexibility to travel as required.
