Senior Systems Engineer (Rail)– Burton upon Trent – Hybrid (2 days in office) - £65,000

The Role

A Senior Systems Engineer is required to technically manage a wide range of products and projects for a Rail Industry & Electronic Systems Expert.

This role will give you full exposure to the whole project lifecycle; you will be working on safety-critical train protection products and work with some of the biggest names in the rail industry

This position would be well-suited to someone who wants to be the subject matter expert when it comes to systems engineering.

Role and Responsibilities:

Design and implementation of project specific systems that meet customers specifications, by utilising current business products and technologies in conjunction with third party products, as necessary to meet customer requirements. Including all required internal and customer deliverable documentation.
Management of all technical aspects of customer projects, leading internal activities and acting as the customers’ technical contact for system engineering
Visiting customer sites to provide support during lab testing, first train commissioning, reliability growth and problem investigations
Participating in product development activities, ensuring the product development pipeline is aligned to customer and market requirements.
Participate in tendering activities, ensuring the solutions offered match customer requirements whilst maximising the businesses win ratio and profitability.
Location:

Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. Monday - Friday 
Hybrid working – 2 days per week in office, 3 days remote
Travel to office & overnight accommodation can be fully expensed 
For those travelling from further distances, you can stay over locally for the 1 night in a paid for hotel.

Salary 

£55,000 - £65,000
Ability to expense commute & overnight accommodation 
What makes you a good fit?

Background in Railway Industry 
Systems Engineering experience in a product/system design environment (ideally electronics environment)
A good ‘Working Knowledge’ of the main Engineering disciplines (Electronic Design, Software Design, Mechanical Packaging Design, System Design and System Integration)
Sound understanding of the system design process (including System and Subsystem Specification, System Test, Integration and Certification).
Degree in an Engineering Field.
