Data Analyst – Data & Insight Transformation (Power BI Specialist)
Location: Essex (On-Site, 3 Days per Week)
Duration: 3 Months (ASAP Start) Likely extension

Role Overview
The Data & Insight team is undergoing a transformation to adopt automated and visual data reporting methods, transitioning from Excel and PowerPoint to Power BI. This role focuses on migrating asset maintenance reporting to Power BI, creating a comprehensive and interactive asset maintenance scorecard. The consultant will work closely with the Data & Insight and Assets teams to ensure actionable insights can be derived from the new system while upskilling in-house teams.

Key Responsibilities
1. Data Discovery & Audit:
• Identify and document data sources across finance, health and safety, and maintenance management systems.
• Conduct an audit of current platforms to capture relevant data points.
• Propose automation solutions and identify opportunities for future enhancements.
2. Data Engineering:
• Develop methods for data ingestion, cleansing, and validation.
• Create pipelines to automate data flows and ensure consistent, accurate reporting.
3. Data Visualisation:
• Build interactive Power BI dashboards tailored to asset maintenance performance.
• Provide solutions for trend analysis, root cause identification, and actionable insights.
• Design dashboards that allow interrogation on multiple levels and facilitate meaningful discussions.
4. Governance & Documentation:
• Create detailed process documentation, including methodologies, data sources, and calculations.
• Ensure processes align with MAG’s central Data and Strategic Analytics team guidelines.
5. Knowledge Transfer:
• Conduct training sessions for in-house performance analysts and other stakeholders.
• Ensure a smooth handover of the BI dashboard to the internal team, including ongoing support and development capabilities.
6. Stakeholder Engagement:
• Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Head of Data & Insight and Director of Asset, to align the project with business goals.
• Attend monthly asset comms cell meetings, fortnightly team meetings, and twice-weekly stand-ups to provide updates on progress.

Essential Skills & Experience
• Data Visualisation: Strong experience in Power BI, including building interactive dashboards and reports.
• Data Management & Automation: Expertise in data engineering, including pipelining, automation, and data validation processes.
• Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders and present findings effectively.
• Documentation & Governance: Skilled in documenting technical processes and ensuring adherence to governance frameworks.
• Upskilling & Training: Experience in teaching or knowledge transfer to upskill internal teams.

• Familiarity with asset maintenance, health and safety, and financial data.
• Experience working in operationally intensive environments.
• Understanding of testing methodologies and incorporating test data into reporting frameworks.
• Prior experience working in or with large organizations or the aviation sector.
