As a new generation insurer disrupting the insure-tech market, our Actuaries and Actuarial Students are the analytical experts who ensure our operations run seamlessly. They leverage their mathematical prowess to analyse data, predict and manage risks, set equitable premiums, design innovative insurance products, and contribute to long-term financial planning. Their critical role ensures that Vitality offers reliable coverage while maintaining financial stability. By applying their actuarial skills, they provide invaluable insights that drive our decision-making processes.
As the Prophet lead at Vitality Life, you are responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing our actuarial model. You will be the Prophet subject matter expert and responsible for ensuring the Prophet model always remains fit-for-purpose and up to date to ensure accurate and efficient modelling processes that support our business objectives.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design, develop, and implement actuarial models using Prophet.
Customise and enhance existing models to meet specific business needs and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with the wider actuarial team to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Liaise with other departments, such as IT and finance, to integrate models into broader business processes leveraging Unify.
Ensure models are accurate, efficient, and compliant with regulatory standards.
Perform model validation and testing to ensure reliability and accuracy.
Ensure a robust and audit standard model change control process is maintained with associated documentation.
Maintain comprehensive model documentation, including methodologies, assumptions, simplifications and limitations of the model.
Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and accessible for audit and review purposes.
Engage with external and internal auditors on model developments used for actuarial valuations.
Provide support for model-related queries and issues.
Ensure all actuarial practices comply with regulatory requirements and professional standards.
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in actuarial modelling.
Provide training and mentoring to junior actuarial staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.What do you need to thrive?
A actuary or senior actuarial student with a passion for actuarial modelling.
Extensive experience in Prophet development with expert Prophet modelling skills..
In-depth experience in Life actuarial valuations (IFRS17 and Solvency II).
Enhance the Prophet model to support more streamlined and efficient valuations.
Communicate effectively within the team and to other teams across the business.
Work effectively with different stakeholders in the business.
Liaise with auditors and external actuaries in the UK and South Africa.
Work under pressure and within a dynamic and changing environment.
