Our Client are actively looking for a SHEQ Advisor (Ideally Scaffold Background) to cover a project in North Ayrshire.

What you will be doing:

Have a thorough understanding of the Company's policies and procedures and all relevant statutory regulations, approved codes of practice and guidance notes relevant to the division.
Carrying out site and depot monitoring visits and audits to ensure compliance with Company procedure and statutory requirements and that high standards are being maintained.
Working closely with site teams to develop corrective action plans where standards fall below the expected level.
Supporting operational teams and advising on matters of SHEQ with a practical approach.
Encouraging participation in the Company's 5 pillars of safety.
Building and maintaining positive relationships by engaging with customer representatives during site visits, including SHEQ professionals employed by the customer.
Ensuring that the regions are made aware of any new legislation or changes to existing legislation which affect its operations. Advising management teams on legislation and the impact on the business.
Co-ordinating investigations into accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences and preparing detailed reports, identifying suitable corrective actions to avoid reoccurrence.
Stopping work in circumstances where it is believed that there is a likelihood of danger or potential danger to life.
Carrying out periodic monitoring to ensure all statutory registers are current and are being properly maintained.
Attending, advising and supporting the regions with compliance to the annual Gold Link Audit.
Advising on training needs for all colleagues and supporting the teams to develop a programme to overcome any shortfalls.
Attending and conducting safety meetings and briefings as required by the business and the regions.
Supporting the SHEQ Director with relevant detail required for RIDDOR reporting where applicable.
Supporting and contributing to the wider SHEQ team including attending departmental meetings.
Maintaining any existing SHEQ professional qualifications and ensuring that knowledge is kept current by participating in CPD.
Attending and participating in any role specific education and training as required by the business.What to bring with you:

Previous experience within the scaffolding industry.
Working knowledge of safety, health and environment legislation.
NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.
Previous experience of working in a similar role would be advantageous but not essential.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with all stakeholders from senior directors to those carrying out various manual trades.
Effective communication skills in terms of writing reports, listening when conducting accident investigations and presenting when leading training courses.
Ability to interpret H&S law and to present this for effective understanding and application.
Diplomacy and assertiveness in dealing with issues as they arise.
Ability to produce and deliver training.
