Brook Street Social Care are proud to be supporting an excellent charity and social enterprise within Halton.

We are looking for an energetic, fun and dynamic individual with lots of ideas and creativity, to join the team to provide play and activity sessions for the families residing in our temporary accommodation service on a part time basis.

This is a 20 hour week, part time position.

You need to be committed and reliable and have a warm, patient approach to children and their families. You will be expected to work as part of a team and have an awareness of play in relation to reducing and working through trauma.

Your role will include:

Setting up play areas that encourage children to develop through play
Build strong relationships with children and families to respond to their needs
Lead games/activities, supervise children and give out refreshments
Encourage children to express themselves and talk about their worries
Build positive relationships with parents, carers and professionals
Make sure children are safe and secure with a high standard of safeguarding awareness.
Your experience will include:

It is essential that you can demonstrate a least 2 years professional experience in implementing children's play in a support capacity, either as a play worker or within a similar setting to the role.

Must have excellent knowledge of play, play types and the play principles.
Must have excellent knowledge of the importance of play in a child's life
Must have excellent understanding of the issues around safeguarding when working with children.
Must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of ACE's and a knowledge of how to work to support children to reduce the impact of these alongside their parent/guardians.
Ability to work on your own initiative
Ability to work well as an integral member of a team
Qualifications:

Ideally you will hold an appropriate early years, childcare, education or play work qualification.
