Handyman / Maintenance Operative

Location: Cambridge

Hours: Monday – Friday 08:00am – 4:00pm (37.5 hours per week) – You may be required to work additional hours and some weekends by prior arrangement.

Hourly Rate / Salary: £27,759 Per Annum

Working for one of prestigious colleges based in Cambridge you will be required to work closely in the Maintenance team. The Maintenance Team is steered by the Maintenance Manager under the direction of the Director of Operations. The multi-disciplinary team includes a Plumber, Electrician apprentice Electrician, Carpenter, Decorator and General Maintenance Assistant. The team work closely together on a range of maintenance tasks and projects across the estate. Specialist maintenance and major building projects are supported by external contractors, managed by the Maintenance Manager.

Duties Will Include:

* Carry out a wide range of general reactive maintenance tasks, repairs and emergency/first response in all College buildings as directed, in a timely manner.

* Undertake painting, decorating and making good to include appropriate preparation of surfaces/substrates before application of coatings and coverings using trade tools, equipment and chemicals to achieve a suitable finish in college buildings and hostels as directed.

* Carry out routine and emergency general building works including tiling, flooring, bricklaying/pointing, groundwork, paving, plastering, masonry and roofing repair in college buildings, hostels and across the estate as directed.

* Assist with routine and emergency plumbing and electrical works such unblocking drains/sinks, replacing toilet seats, lightbulb changes and collection/delivery of appliances.
