JOB TITLE:

Graduate Research Scientist (Fresh Water)

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Provide scientific support to the research and development team with a strong focus on water science, water chemistry and microbiology.

Lead Scientist- Dr Josh Steven

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking a motivated water scientist with strong practical abilities. This demanding and varied role will require a multi-skilled and dynamic candidate to manage a diverse and exciting research program.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide Laboratory support and managing long-term experiments, including water science, water chemistry and microbiology.

* Data collection, management and report writing.

* Day to day management of the laboratory and outdoor compound testing facility.

* Installation and maintenance of biological filtration assemblies at customer sites.

* Stock control of laboratory consumables.

* General office administration, including record keeping and internal / external communications, research.

MAIN TASKS:

Laboratory

* Optimising the processes of biological water treatment for advanced nutrient / pathogen control.

* Running of biological and chemical experiments.

* Water quality analysis and processing using photometric techniques and other chemical techniques.

* Data management and recording of results.

* Analysis and presenting of data and results.

Outdoor research facility:

* The commissioning, running and maintenance on large-scale water treatment configurations.

* Recording water samples and maintaining biological filtration rigs.

* Ensuring test rigs are functioning optimally, which includes plumbing and electrical engineering.

* Building and commissioning new test rigs and experiments.

Field and Site work

* Assisting with filtration system installs on client sites, as required by the business.

* Travelling to client sites to troubleshoot issues with filtration systems.

* Monitor water quality and filtration performance.

Data management, reporting and administration:

* Generating experimental test plans.

* Ensuring all scientific reports, data and analysis are kept up to date, stored and managed correctly.

* All results for quarterly reporting will need close and active management.

* High competence in Excel, word and project management skills will be required.

General:

* Task management and prioritisation using business wide tools and processes

* Identifying, defining, and implementing new processes, which save time and increase productivity

* Effective time management with accurate and timely reporting on task and workload progress

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm

Contract length: 12 months with a view to extending / perm if possible.

Pay: £21,000.00-£25,000.00 per year

Education:

Bachelor's (essential) in science related degree

Experience:

Industrial / lab / sandwich: 1 year (required)
