Are you an experienced Higher Level teaching assistant ready for your next challenge?

Do you have experience with Neurodiverse pupils and have a strong desire to make a difference to their lives?

Create Education are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join a team in East London that work with neurodiverse young people ages 7 – 19 with complex profiles. All of the pupils have educational health and care plans typically with a diagnosis of SEMH, ASD and associated conditions. The aim is to provide an environment where pupils can grow and develop socially, emotionally and academically.

As a higher-level teaching assistant, you will work predominantly as expert support whilst also providing a range of cover and teaching across the schools services which could include: planned coverage of a class, planned coverage of support, unplanned short term coverage, specialist teaching due to expertise, regular interventions and supporting transitional periods. You will need to have a strong understanding of SEN, Neurodiversity and child development and be ready to work in a child focused way. It is of high importance that you support, encourage and motivate pupils to reach their full potential and align with the school’s ethos and values.

Job Details – HLTA – East London

Planned coverage of a class in place of their usual teacher or group coordinator
Planned coverage of support, in place of a Class Teaching Assistant (TA), or Additional Support TA to help regulate pupils who require one-to-one support
Inplanned short-term coverage of a role
Planned specialist teaching due to expertise of a subject
Supporting transition periods and external trips
Regular interventions for a caseload of pupils

Understanding of Special Educational Needs
Ability to work in a child focused way
Ability to deliver teaching to classes based on pre-determined lesson plans as well as work with small groups of individual pupils
Effective communication skills
Outstanding listening skills
Ability to recognise and understand young people’s needs
Reflect on your own practice and to always seek self-improvement
Good organisational skills, ability to plan, manage and prioritise workload.
