Domain Architect

We are partnered with a reputable global consultancy that are looking for a Network Architect to work on a very exciting LONG-TERM PROJECT in the retail sector. Please note that this is an URGENT requirement so please apply promptly to avoid missing out.

Role: Domain Architect – connectivity

Rate: Up to £500 per day (inside IR35)

Location: Coventry, UK

Style: Hybrid

Duration: 6 months (initially – view to extend)

Role Description

The successful candidate will provide technical oversight and direction to a team of onshore and offshore network engineers supporting engineering works on the distributed estate for a national UK retailer. This will involve identification of growth opportunities, supporting ongoing transformation programmes and business-driven initiatives as well as ensuring network tools and infrastructure is maintained to drive excellent service levels.

Key responsibilities

* Network design, technology evaluation, implementation, Security management, performance optimization, documentation and reporting

* Perform network modelling, analysis, and planning, including analysis of capacity needs for network infrastructures

* Technical Design Authority on behalf of the client for assurance of the high- and low-level designs covering security, contractual and service considerations

* Responsible for holding third parties to account for technical and operational aspects of the design

* Provide technical and thought leadership as well as strategic oversight to assure business outcomes are delivered by the solution

* Build and maintain strong working relationships with client and third-party vendor stakeholders

* Help translate business requirements into technical solutions

* Ensure integration of the third-party solutions into existing technology and business systems

* Guide and mentor technical development in the engineering & Service team

* Provide and review design documentation

* Creating and implementing an overall technical architecture roadmap and strategy that maximizes the return on technology investment, reduces technical debt

* Creates reports and technology roadmaps and shares knowledge and insights with others.

* Coach and mentor network architects and Senior Network SME to become Network architects

* Strategic and outward focus, understanding of industry trends/threats/opportunities, history and best practice

* A full stack background that has a good understanding of hosting implications for network solutions as well as a focus on service and commercial implications

* Able to define and participate in RFPs and product selection with great business analysis skills and able to translate business outcomes to technical requirements

Key Skills:

* Experience with a nation-wide retail environment

* Knowledge of Cisco SDWAN and Mitel VOIP technologies

* Excellent understanding of Aruba networking products and solutions

* Understanding of Cloud Firewalls & Security solutions

* Ability to construct and document end to end designs for networking solutions

* Strong communication skills to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

* Good subcontractor management skills

* Ability to provide assertive leadership and feedback to senior stakeholders

* Awareness of market and industry trends and alternative products

* be a strategic thinker who can communicate network concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
