About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the Role

As the Senior Noise and Nuisance Officer, you will be at the forefront of addressing and resolving noise and nuisance complaints across the borough, helping to create a safer and more peaceful environment for residents. Reporting to the ASB, CCTV & Enforcement Manager, you’ll take a lead role in managing complex cases, conducting investigations, and enforcing relevant legislation, such as the Environmental Protection Act and Noise and Statutory Nuisance Act.

Your responsibilities will include responding to noise complaints both during and outside regular hours, gathering and preserving evidence, and preparing detailed case bundles for potential court proceedings. Working closely with local police, statutory organisations, and internal colleagues, you will coordinate joint enforcement actions, share intelligence, and ensure a consistent approach to noise and nuisance reduction.

In this role, you’ll also provide data and performance insights to senior management and support the preparation of reports and briefing notes for council committees. This role is ideal for someone with strong investigative skills, experience in enforcing environmental and noise control laws, and a commitment to protecting the quality of life for our communities across Haringey.

Working for Haringey

At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community.

Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement up to 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and well-being support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money-saving discounts.

Please note: we reserve the right to end this advert before the noted deadline if we receive sufficient applications. If you wish to apply for this role, please ensure that you do so as soon as possible.

Additionally, we are aware that automated emails may be diverted through to junk email folders. Please continue to check these through the application process. If you have any questions about the status of your application, please contact

About You

You are an experienced enforcement professional with a solid background in noise and nuisance investigations. With in-depth knowledge of legislation, you are confident in applying these laws to handle complex cases and support community wellbeing.

You have a proven ability to manage challenging situations calmly and impartially, demonstrating excellent listening, negotiation, and communication skills. Your ability to engage effectively with residents, council members, and enforcement partners allows you to build strong relationships and support joint initiatives.

Organised and self-motivated, you can balance multiple priorities and work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team. Known for your thorough documentation and attention to detail, you’re committed to achieving positive outcomes that enhance the quality of life for the community. If you are passionate about making a difference in noise and nuisance control and thrive in a role that combines investigation with community engagement, this position would be a great fit for you.

About the Team

We are a high performing team, that works collaboratively with a range of internal and external services. The ASB Enforcement team undertakes investigations of high level anti-social behaviour. This includes responding to individual reports and undertaking partnership work in relation to hotspots. The team works collaboratively towards a common goal of finding solutions and achieving successful outcomes, making a real difference for the people in Haringey.

We expect team members to be dependable, someone that the whole team can count on. You should also be flexible in your approach, adaptable and willing to cover absences or capacity issues where necessary and take on additional tasks for the team’s benefit. The team promotes a proactive attitude, innovative and inclusive environment, to enable an effective response in a demanding and challenging environment
