GSL Education’s North Yorkshire branch is currently recruiting for Supply Teachers for our client Secondary school located 19 miles north of York, North Yorkshire. In the absence of permanent staff members, the job provides young people with an engaging curriculum and lessons that have been planned in advance.

About the School:

The school is a comprehensive secondary school with students aged 11-16 graded “Good” by Ofsted in quality of education and personal development in 2023.
They have students from over 35 primary schools, which contributes to the friendly, diverse environment at the school.
The school actively looks for ways to enhance its efficiency and benefits from collaborating with others.
At Key Stage 5, the school collaborates with a partner School, where many of their students go on to University with others securing Apprenticeships or employment.
With over 470 students, the school makes sure that every student graduates not only with the credentials required to continue their education or pursue their desired job path, but also with the abilities and self-assurance needed to actively participate in their communities.

Supply Teacher Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Previous teaching experience in secondary schools in the last 2 years.
Relevant qualifications in education or transferable skills in areas such as mentoring, training, or youth work.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Hold a Child DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education.
Supply Teacher Responsibilities:

Deliver pre-planned, engaging lessons across a range of subjects using pre-prepared materials.
Keep accurate attendance records, reporting any absences or unusual circumstances to the school office.

Adapt teaching to suit the needs of all students, including those with SEN.
Adapt to different teaching environments and year groups as required.
Follow lesson plans set by absent teachers or create lessons when required.
Collaborate with staff to ensure a smooth handover and effective lesson delivery.
