Our client based in Farnborough have an excellent opportunity to join their team as an Apprentice Manufacturing Engineer on a permanent basis.

As an apprentice in Manufacturing Engineering, you will support the day-to-day manufacturing ensuring all processes function efficiently and produce repeatable results. Continuous improvement activities also.

Primary Responsibilities

Defines manufacturing processes and controls – using lean manufacturing techniques

Providing technical assistance to other departments in the resolution of any problems on existing products

Continually works to improve the manufacture of products to eliminate both rework and scrap.

Preparing/updating new/existing manufacturing documentation and tooling required for product manufacture – responsible for delivering process and documentation to meet defined process time (cost)

Support the identification of key characteristics or critical to quality functions

Perform basic design calculations and simple mechanical or thermal analyses

Be aware of and comply with current technology export control legislation and all regulatory requirements

Collaborate with the Innovation team and keep abreast of current/developing technologies

Be a participant in internal and design reviews, bids, proposals and CI activities, asking questions and taking detailed notes

Applying knowledge and skill to assist in the introduction of new technology in order to improve quality and productivity;

Working with the Product Engineers and other team members having input to project plans and performing assigned tasks;

Contribute as required to the preparation of technical proposals to customers for further work;

Liaise with Engineering and other Departments to produce cost estimates for new product designs.

Generate and maintain PFMEA’s; * Create and deliver presentations to other employees, customers and suppliers with support from more senior engineers.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience

An interest in engineering

A logical problem solver and critical thinker

Ideally you will have some work experience, but this is not essential, working as part of a team and supporting production and operations.

The ability to work in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Implement solutions to help improve machine reliability and quality issues.

Ownership and accountability

Teamwork and flexibility with an open attitude.

Capable of effective prioritization of tasks and personal time management

Able to work unsupervised and prioritize their own time and activities.

Experience in using any CAD system for 3D modelling or 2D drawing
