We are partnered with a reputable global consultancy that are looking for a Network Architect to work on a very exciting LONG-TERM PROJECT in the retail sector. Please note that this is an URGENT requirement so please apply promptly to avoid missing out.

Role: Network Architect

Rate: Up to £500 per day (inside IR35)

Location: Coventry, UK

Style: Hybrid

Duration: 6 months (initially – view to extend)

Role Description

The successful candidate will provide technical oversight and direction to a team of onshore and offshore network engineers supporting engineering & Service works on the distributed estate for a national UK retailer. This will involve identification of growth opportunities, supporting ongoing transformation programmers and business-driven initiatives as well as ensuring network tools and infrastructure is maintained to drive excellent service levels.

Key responsibilities

* Network design, technology evaluation, implementation, Security management, performance optimization, documentation and reporting

* Perform network modelling, analysis, and planning, including analysis of capacity needs for network infrastructures.

* Accountable for integration of the new third party SDWAN and hosted voice solutions

* Technical Design Authority on behalf of the client for assurance of the high- and low-level designs covering security, contractual and service considerations

* Responsible for holding third parties to account for technical and operational aspects of the design

* Provide technical and thought leadership as well as strategic oversight to assure business outcomes are delivered by the solution

* Build and maintain strong working relationships with client and third-party vendor stakeholders

* Help translate business requirements into technical solutions

* Ensure integration of the third-party solutions into existing technology and business systems

* Guide and mentor technical development in the engineering & Service team

* Provide and review design documentation

* Creating and implementing an overall technical architecture roadmap and strategy that maximizes the return on technology investment, reduces technical debt

* Creates reports and technology roadmaps and shares knowledge and insights with others.

* ensure adherence to relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices

Key Skills:

* Experience with a nation-wide retail environment

* understand most of the following network technologies: LAN (local area network), WAN (wide area network), wifi, data-centre LAN, SD (software-defined) networks, telephony, mobile solutions infrastructure, unified comms, network management solutions, network-specific security and remote access technologies and approaches

* Knowledge of Cisco SDWAN and Mitel VOIP technologies

* Excellent understanding of Aruba networking products and solutions

* Firewalls – FortiGate, Cloud Firewalls

* Ability to construct and document end to end designs for networking solutions

* Strong communication skills to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

* Ability to provide assertive leadership and feedback to senior stakeholders

* Awareness of market and industry trends and alternative products

* Staying up to date on emerging technologies and trends, and developing expertise in specific areas of networking, such as cloud computing, software-defined networking (SDN), or network security
