As a Lidl Senior Health and Safety Advisor within our Trading Compliance department, you'll be part of a team who leads and shapes all aspects of Health & Safety and Food Safety compliance across our network of stores, warehouses and offices. Providing outstanding collaboration with our Head Office and regional colleagues, you'll ensure the business remains legally compliant. From investigating accidents, to advising Head Office stakeholders on new legislation or regulatory matters, your expert knowledge will be essential to make Lidl the supermarket of choice for our customers. You'll have a clear passion for safety and the ability to effectively and confidently communicate and champion it.

What you'll do

Deal with a wide range of regulatory and operational processes and issues (for example, accident investigations, food hygiene, statutory noise complaints, fire safety etc.)
Provide guidance on relevant topics and reactive support to maintain Lidl at the forefront of regulatory compliance
Ensure that risk assessments and internal procedures remain current, compliant and effective
Develop corporate policy and test new initiatives and procedures
Provide support to key decision makers and influence projects to ensure health and safety is at the forefront of decision making
Conduct site visits and inspections across our stores, warehouses and offices to ensure the necessary levels of understanding and compliance are in place
Produce, evaluate, and issue various analysis and performance reports
Undertake incident and accidents investigations
Represent and support the company during local authority contact
Liaise with external service providers to ensure the highest levels of service and statutory compliance

What you'll need

A relevant degree (e.g. Environment Health) with relevant experience or working towards the NEBOSH Diploma with relevant experience
Or
Hold the NEBOSH General certificate and have a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role ideally within a multi-site retail or warehousing environment
Sound knowledge of UK Health & Safety Legislation
Membership of a relevant industry body (e.g. IOSH)
A strong knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
Excellent communication skills with proven experience engaging with key internal and external stakeholders including colleagues at all levels, contractors, and enforcing authorities
Have the ability to influence and persuade people at all levels within the organisation both informally, and within meeting and training environments, with the ability to project a professional positive presence and an appropriate level of credibility
Be results orientated and comfortable communicating at all levels of seniority within a large organisation
Effective time management skills, able to work within tight time frames with ability to plan and prioritise, and think clearly and strategically
Strong written skills and IT skills including proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
Flexibility to travel to all areas within GB and must hold a full UK driving licence
