Job Description
Ultra Maritime has an exciting opportunity for a Project Planner to support the project management function at Ultra Maritime, SMaP, based in Staffordshire. In this role you will be responsible for creating and maintaining the project schedule for one or more projects or programmes.
Working closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineering Lead, Project Risk Manager and Scrum Master, you will create and maintain the project schedule taking account of task progress and dependencies, resource constraints and allocations, potential schedule impacts of identified risks and mitigations, emergent work and risk materialization. You will be responsible for ensuring project progress and events are dynamically reflected in the schedule and for reporting updates to the project management team, providing them with clear impacts and options to discuss with management, customers and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules that detail tasks, milestones, deadlines and dependencies.
Working closely with the Project Risk Manager, ensure that project schedules reflect identified risks and mitigations.
Working closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineering Lead and Scrum Master, monitor task progress and ensure this is accurately reflected in the project schedules.
Support the regular business cycle of resource forecasting on a short-term and long-term basis.
Ensure that project schedules are dynamically updated to reflect accurate resource allocations, risk materialisation, emergent work and contract changes.
Monitor project timelines and adjust plans as necessary to ensure timely completion.
Provide regular reports and updates to the project management team, including clear understanding of impacts of project events and any options or decision points.
Act as the process expert for project planning within the business.
Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement of project planning processes.Qualifications / skills required
Excellent knowledge of project management tools including Microsoft Project
Experience of planning complex projects within a multi-discipline development environment
Understanding of project risk management and its impact on scheduling and planning
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Understanding of Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid delivery methodologies desirable
Working knowledge of JIRA or similar task management tool desirable
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Good team worker
Enthusiastic with drive and motivation
Experience of working within a team-based, multi-discipline development environment
