Assistant Director of Finance
Location: Grantham and other locations in the district as required.
Salary: SK24 to SK25, £80,265 - £83,679 per annum

The Role
The purpose of this role is to work with the Corporate Management Team and Cabinet Members to deliver a transformational and ambitious growth agenda in the district.
The post holder will provide leadership, management and development of the Council’s Finance services including:
* Accountancy
* Payroll and Exchequer
* Governance and Risk
* Internal Audit Partnership
* Procurement
The role will also deputise as directed by the Deputy Chief Executive and Section 151 Officer.
The Deputy Director will develop and lead an efficient, effective and modern service, guiding and managing the operation and activities of the Finance, Audit and Procurement teams in accordance with relevant statutory requirements and the policies and proper expectations of the Council.
As the lead of the finance function in the organisation this role will also play the role will play a key part in embedding and leading a modern, forward-thinking approach to financial management across the organisation, including developing a profit and loss culture and improving financial understanding and agility at all levels.
The post holder will be accountable for the development and application of financial strategy and to pursue opportunities that deliver that strategy. The post holder will provide professional expertise to the finance and revenues service and corporate management team working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive and Section 151 Officer.
Skills and Qualifications
* Ability to manage change, including supporting teams in a positive, influential and resilient way whilst taking customer impact into account.
* Ability to work to deadlines, exercising judgement over priorities and reconciling conflicting demands and pressures.
* The ability to deal with complex negotiations and conflict situations and to apply political sensitivity in its widest sense.
* Experience of leading a professional finance department or business unit in a local government environment or multifunctional commercial organisation.
* Experience of advising and supporting Director level officers and members on financial issues.
* Experience in a Head of department role in a financial service.
* Experience in managing and monitoring budgets. Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.
* CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant
* Current driving licence or ability to make suitable alternative arrangements.
