Senior Reliability Engineer 

Location - Howden, East Yorkshire 

Contract - Permanent 

Reporting to - Maintenance Manager 

Shift - Days (Monday- Friday) 

Howdens Joinery is searching for an experienced and driven Senior Reliability Engineer to join our state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Howden East Yorkshire, and Shape the Future of Reliability Engineering. As part of a dedicated team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing equipment reliability, driving improvements in productivity, safety, and overall operational efficiency. 

Working as part of a large, experienced Engineering function, you’ll lead a team focused on enhancing manufacturing performance. As a Senior Reliability Engineer, you will spearhead projects aimed at improving reliability, safety, and efficiency, while coordinating efforts to maximise the benefits of our cutting-edge operations.

What you will be doing as a Senior Reliability Engineer:

• Leading and mentoring the Reliability Technician team, ensuring their work aligns with production goals, engineering requirements, and health and safety standards.
• Driving the continuous improvement of equipment reliability and availability by leading Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) activities.
• Collaborating closely with Planning and Maintenance teams to meet Maintenance Excellence objectives.
• Playing a pivotal role in the implementation and refinement of our group standards, acting as a key supporter for Maintenance Managers.
• Identifying and applying advanced tools and techniques for improving maintenance practices and reliability outcomes.
• Championing Root Cause Analysis processes, providing guidance and coaching to ensure effective problem-solving and continuous improvement.

What do you need to qualify:

• A time-served Electrical/Mechanical Engineer or equivalent qualification (e.g., HNC in Electrical Engineering or an apprenticeship in Automation/Controls).
• Strong technical experience within high-speed manufacturing environments, including knowledge of Maintenance Excellence tools such as FMECA.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team toward shared objectives.
• Proven ability to solve complex problems, and drive improvements through teamwork and collaboration between Engineering and Operations.
• Familiarity with utilities (gas, water, high-pressure boiler systems) and safety/environmental legislation.
• Strong IT skills, including experience with PC-controlled machinery, preventative maintenance systems, and SAP-based stores.
• Passion for continuous improvement and a commitment to creating a safe, efficient, and high-performing workplace.
