Temporary Accountant - 3-6 months – Oldham – £35,000 - £40,000 DOE

Axon Moore is proud to be exclusively working with this growing business. Working with the Financial Controller and wider team within the finance department, to carry out key duties within the finance department and to ensure that effective financial systems processes and procedures are maintained, including compliance with relevant accounting standards and statutory regulations, while maintaining current best practice for creating a strong control environment within the department. Interviewing before Christmas with start date 2nd January 2025.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Key Tasks

Provide support to/ and cover for the Financial Controller
Monthly Reconciliations including Key month end Nominal reconciliations to deadlines
Production of KPI and other financial / data reports
Production of External Funder Data Reports
Analyse records to identify and resolve any queries
Assist with sales and purchase transaction loading and receipts and payments loading to SAGE as required
Other ad hoc tasks and assistance as required
Provide cover for members of the team

Other Duties

Provide support to other areas of the finance department to cover for busy periods, sickness or holidays as required
Any other reasonable tasks at the request of the company management

Key Skills and Behaviours

Work well within a small team whilst working independently
Have good communication skills, both written and verbal and have an excellent telephone manner
Good numeracy skills and be confident working with numbers
Strong spreadsheet and data analytic skills & comfortable working with large volumes of data to efficiently identify errors/discrepancies & an eye for presentational detail
Good time management skills and organisational skills and be able to prioritise workloads to ensure targets/deadlines are met
High attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
Be able to multi-task and quickly switch from one task to another as required
Be a team player
 Be hard working, proactive and enthusiastic & be willing to take on additional and varied tasks to support the business requirements

Experience/Qualifications

Experience in / knowledge of the leasing industry (ideally) or the finance sector in general would be preferred
Previous experience working in a finance department is essential
Either ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or in the final stages with a requirement to complete qualification within 12 months) – require a Finance background
IT literate with strong Excel skills, experience with analysing / verifying data and production of accurate detailed reporting essential. Knowledge of Sage advantageous.
Good background education.
