About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Year 6 Class Teacher to join a supportive and dynamic team in a well-established primary school in Hertfordshire. The Year 6 class consists of 29 students, including 2 children with EHCPs (both supported by 1:1 Teaching Assistants) and another student with challenging behaviour who is also receiving additional intervention. The school follows the Hertfordshire behaviour policy, which focuses on positive behaviour management and inclusivity. You will be working closely with the class’s Teaching Assistant and support staff to ensure all students are engaged and receive the necessary support to thrive.

As the new Year 6 Class Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that prepare the children for their transition to secondary school, ensuring that their academic, social, and emotional needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lesson Planning & Delivery: Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons in line with the Year 6 curriculum, ensuring students are well-prepared for their SATs and secondary school transition.

* Support for Additional Needs: Work closely with the Teaching Assistant and 1:1 TAs to support children with EHCPs and additional needs, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum.

* Behaviour Management: Implement and uphold the Hertfordshire behaviour policy to create a positive and respectful classroom environment.

* Intervention & Support: Provide tailored interventions for students with additional learning needs, including those with challenging behaviour.

* Collaboration: Work alongside other teachers, support staff, and the senior leadership team to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.

* Communication with Parents: Maintain regular communication with parents to inform them about their child’s progress and areas for development.

* Classroom Management: Ensure the classroom is well-organised, with resources readily available to support the children’s learning and development.

* Pupil Numbers: Around 500 students from diverse backgrounds.

* Age Range: 3–11 years (Early Years to Key Stage 2).

* Key Stage: Year 6 (ages 10–11), preparing students for their next phase of education.

Benefits and Perks:

* Professional Development: Ongoing training to support your career progression.

* Collaborative Team: Join a team of dedicated and experienced staff working together to achieve the best outcomes for children.

* Modern Facilities: Access well-resourced classrooms and excellent outdoor spaces to support teaching and learning.

* Experience in Key Stage 2: A proven track record of delivering successful lessons, particularly in Year 6.
