SEND Teaching Assistant – Broadstairs – ASAP

Twenty4Seven Education is seeking a kind, caring and sympathetic Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to work within a spacious Residential Special School. This amazing new role is to start ASAP on a full-time long term basis. This welcoming school is registered as a children’s home for children and young people aged 5-19 with severe intellectual disabilities including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

Their facilities include a library, a swimming pool, a parent/carer house, an interactive soft play room and a sensory garden.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide 1:1 and/or small group support to reinforce learning expectations

* Offer personalised assistance to children and young people with ASC, associated communication difficulties, emotional/behavioural challenges, complex disabilities and medical needs

* Help provide a safe, stimulating and structured environment

* Support students in managing their behaviour and regulating their emotions following the school behaviour policy

* Maintain clear and professional communication with other colleagues, professionals and parents/carers regarding student progress, well-being and any arising issues

* Assist in preparing teaching materials and classroom resources

* Keep accurate records of student activities, progress and behaviour

Qualifications & Experience:

* Minimum Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent

* Experience working with children with SEND within an educational setting or similar (minimum of 3 months of experience)

* Child and Adult DBS check on the Update Service or willing to pay and apply for a new one (Twenty4Seven Education can assist you with this process)

* You can demonstrate a patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to working with children

* You have excellent communication and teamwork skills

* You are committed to creating a supportive learning environment
