Second in Charge PE Teacher – Swindon Area

Location: Swindon, Wiltshire
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: January 2025 (Potential for earlier start)

Team Educate is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Second in Charge PE Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in the Swindon area. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated PE professional to step up into a leadership role, supporting the Head of Department while inspiring students to achieve their full potential in Physical Education.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist the Head of PE in managing the department, delivering high-quality lessons, and driving curriculum innovation.

* Take on responsibility for a specific area of the PE curriculum, ensuring its continuous development and improvement.

* Lead and mentor PE staff, supporting professional development and contributing to a collaborative department ethos.

* Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and varied PE lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

* Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring high levels of achievement and participation.

* Organize extracurricular sports clubs, competitions, and events to enrich the students' physical education experience.

* Deputize for the Head of PE when required, including managing staff and overseeing departmental operations.

* Collaborate with other departments and contribute to the wider school community.

Qualifications and Experience:

* QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a relevant degree in Physical Education or a related field.

* Proven track record of teaching PE at Key Stage 3 and 4; Key Stage 5 experience is desirable.

* Strong leadership skills, with experience supporting a department or taking on additional responsibilities.

* Passion for sports and fitness, with the ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.

* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
