Transport Planner

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our client, a successful fast-paced SME at their site in Woolpit, near Bury St Edmunds. This is a permanent, employed position working 40 hours per week from the office in Woolpit. 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday with 30 minutes each day for lunch.

Our client is a privately-owned, well-established commercial business operating in a fast-paced industry. They have a workforce of around 150 employees spread across a handful of sites in the UK and are continuing to grow. They have a friendly, professional culture and are a supportive employer who treat everyone equally.
The Job
Planning delivery routes for multi-drop next day deliveries nationwide, this is a busy and fast paced role which would suit somebody who thrives under pressure and has an excellent geographical knowledge of the UK.
Responsibilities include:
* Nationwide multi drop next day routing for multiple depots maximising cost efficiencies
* Liaise effectively with internal departments to ensure smooth operations
* Convey accurate delivery information to Drivers
* Communicate and build relationships with suppliers, agencies, and sub-contractors
Requirements
* Previous experience working as a Transport Planner (essential)
* Strong understanding of routing processes and procedures (essential)
* Superb geographical knowledge of the UK
* Ideally, experience in coordinating multi-drop next day delivery routes
* Excellent organisational skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Self-motivated and able to effectively prioritise
* Proficiency in MS Office Packages (Word, Excel and Outlook)

There is also a good benefits package available. Holiday allowance is statutory entitlement of 28 days inclusive of bank holidays, but increases with service up to an additional 5 days over 10 years.
