Summary:
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for delivering front line electro/mechanical preventative and corrective maintenance on Water Treatment Plant systems. The role will also include working closely with and supporting projects and other maintenance elements within the business, such as plant equipment upgrades and commissioning of new equipment.
The Maintenance Technician will work closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and Site Operators to ensure effective delivery of maintenance/project activities in a timely manner.
Most work will be dayshift Monday – Friday but it is expected that the Technician will work outside these hours if required. As part of this role, the applicant will also provide on call plant cover responding to any alarms and attending site, if necessary, out of hours. When rostered standby person, weekend working on site will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Visible leadership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within Nijhuis Industries.
Understand the multi-skilled (EMI) maintenance function to complete basic and/or complex maintenance tasks and to work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
Pro-active approach to safety, inputting into monthly safety stats and KPI’s, and taking an active part in ensuring the team meet its targets.
Establish and maintain professional relationships with Nijhuis Industries personnel, and subcontractor staff.
Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices. Continually look to improve methods and systems. Identify faults, evaluate rectification measures and to make initial recommendations, to carry out basic and/or complex repairs. Interpret advanced technical literature and drawings to affect repairs.
Display good knowledge of all electronic systems used for maintenance work, i.e., CMMS, Excel & Word. Utilising plant information, identify any changes in equipment performance and/or potential operational problems, evaluate and make initial recommendations to return plant to its optimum operating condition.
Attending maintenance related meetings as required providing input as appropriate.
Working in partnership with the Process Plant Operators. Identify and carry out “on-the-job” training of new personnel. Flexible and adaptable approach. Reporting all PM and emergent works on a weekly basis through company systems.
Carry out routine planned preventive, corrective and emergency response electrical work on Nijhuis owned equipment and customer sites.
Respond to breakdowns and ensure that electrical and corrective works are completed safely and in a timely manner.
Carry out reactive electrical works to a high-quality standard which is compliant with statutory regulations.
Undertake minor electrical installation work in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Extensive experience of carrying out all aspects of a Mechanical planned maintenance programme, including electrical fault-finding diagnostics and installation work. Experience with PLC and SCADA system coding and design.
Qualified to the 18th Edition of the IEE regulations. Time served apprenticeship training (NVQ3).
Operational and maintenance knowledge of water & effluent treatment plants.
Experience of working directly with sub-contractors and dealing directly with third parties to arrange / organise tasks.
To be able to demonstrate through previous work experience, an ability to interpret
advanced technical literature and electrical drawings to affect repairs of complex items of plant. Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and technical specifications.
To be able to demonstrate knowledge of complete cycle of maintenance work from planning stage to implementation and to completion of tasks.
Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system.
Hard working self-starter/self-motivated able to work on your own with little local support following initial training/induction periods.
Experience of working in a ‘virtual team’ environment, good IT skills in order to work independently with a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).
High level problem solving/fault finding skills.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Good interpersonal skills, able to liaise with multiple commercial/technical internal and external contacts.
Training will be given for Instrumentation calibrations.
Health & safety training.
Proven track record of fault finding and fault diagnosis. Competency in panel wiring and diagnosis as well as an understanding of safety systems. Understanding of the fundamentals automation and process control systems.
Show an aptitude for mechanical maintenance desirable but not essential.
Working for us means:
The salary is between £32,000 & £40,000 per year, depending on your professional experience
Hours of work - 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Standby Requirements - Expected to work 1 in 4 which will require weekend working when the rostered standby person. Rate it £25 per day
Bonus up to 5%
Overtime – 1.5
Holidays – 22 days + 8 statutory
Probationary Period – 6 months
Pension – Can join immediately or auto enrolled after 3 months - Employee 4.5% and Employer 4.5% via salary sacrifice
Eligible to join Private Healthcare after successfully completing probation
Enrolled in Group Income Protection and Death in Service (4 x basic salary) upon commencement of employment
Notice – 1 week during probation, increasing to 1 month thereafter
