Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and nurturing Level 2 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated one-on-one support to a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This part-time role is ideal for someone with a proactive approach to learning support, who is hands-on, always on their feet, and committed to making a meaningful difference in a child's academic and social development. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate individual with a balance of energy and empathy, dedicated to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment where the child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Individualized Support:

Provide direct one-on-one support to a child with SEN, ensuring their specific learning, emotional, and behavioral needs are met throughout the school day.
Assist the child with daily tasks, such as participating in class activities, transitioning between lessons, and interacting with peers.
Adapt lessons and learning activities to accommodate the child's unique learning style, ensuring they remain fully engaged and active participants in the classroom.
Implementation of SEN Plans:

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and other specialists to implement the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
Regularly review and adjust support strategies based on the child's progress, offering creative and practical solutions to address emerging challenges or needs.
Nurturing and Inclusive Environment:

Foster a safe, nurturing, and supportive atmosphere where the child feels valued, confident, and included in all classroom activities.
Develop positive, trusting relationships with the child to encourage their emotional well-being and personal growth.
Promote the child's independence by gently guiding them to complete tasks and solve problems on their own, when appropriate.
Social and Emotional Development:

Encourage positive social interactions with peers, supporting the child in group activities and helping them build friendships within the classroom.
Provide emotional support during moments of stress or frustration, using patience and understanding to help the child manage their emotions.
Actively support the child in developing confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.
Behavioral and Sensory Needs:

Recognize and respond to any behavioral or sensory triggers, adapting approaches to maintain a calm and focused learning environment.
Employ positive behavior management techniques, helping the child manage any difficulties in a constructive and supportive way.
Work with the class teacher to ensure the child can safely and comfortably participate in all school activities, including physical education, breaks, and assemblies.
Classroom and Administrative Support:

Assist with the preparation and organization of classroom resources and learning materials, ensuring they are tailored to the child's learning requirements.
Support the class teacher in managing the classroom, including helping with group activities and general class management, while maintaining a focus on the child's specific needs.
Keep detailed records of the child's progress, noting achievements, areas of difficulty, and any significant behavioral patterns. These will be regularly reported to the SENCO, class teacher, and parents.

Qualifications & Experience:

A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is required.
Previous experience working with children with SEN or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
A solid understanding of safeguarding procedures and experience supporting a child's emotional and social development is essential.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with teachers, parents, and other staff members in a supportive and cooperative manner.
