Position: Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

Commutable from: Kidderminster, Redditch, Hereford, Worcester, Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Birmingham, Evesham, and Pershore

My client is a well-established engineering company that designs, manufactures, and supplies a range of bespoke test equipment and systems. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will manage mechanical design projects from initial concept to delivery, create detailed mechanical designs, and provide technical support.

Key skills required for the Mechanical Design Engineer:

Create and develop concepts and detailed mechanical designs using SolidWorks.
Design hydraulic systems and pipework layouts.
Conduct design reviews and iterations to refine solutions based on feedback and testing results.
Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, assembly instructions, and fabrication drawings.
Maintain up-to-date records of design changes and project progress.
Work closely with project engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure design integration with overall project objectives.
Liaise with suppliers and vendors to select components that meet design and performance requirements.
Analyse design challenges and develop innovative solutions to improve system performance and reliability.
Conduct feasibility studies and simulations to validate design concepts.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Participate in quality control processes, including testing and validation of mechanical systems.

Key experience required for the Mechanical Design Engineer:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
3+ years of experience in mechanical design, specifically using SolidWorks.
Proven experience in hydraulic system design and pipework layout.
Excellent communication skills are a must.
