The Role

As a part of the Yusen Graduate Programme, you will complete a number of placements in different UK locations, usually starting from Northampton/Milton Keynes area and therefore, you will need to be flexible and be prepared to move locations during the programme.

You will complete various placements (each of them lasting 3-6 months), learning a skillset and allowing you to build comprehensive knowledge of the business.

The placements will typically cover the following:

1. Healthcare
Yusen Logistics work with a number of top pharmaceutical companies, helping them transport their precious, temperature sensitive cargo across Europe and the globe. During this placement, you can expect to: manage relationships with our courier partners, coordinate deliveries of healthcare products around Europe, ensure the transport of medication meets legal and safety regulations

2. Transport
Be part of the team that gets it there, on time and safely In this placement you can expect to learn about how we run a large transport network, you’ll get hands on by briefing our drivers, managing and reporting on KPIs and planning our fleet

3. International Freight Forwarding
Yusen Logistics provide a world class freight forwarding software over land sea and air. During the graduate scheme you can expect to: understand the basics of cargo management, including import and export procedures, experience customer meetings and understand more about Japanese culture

4. Business solutions
Our business solutions team are always busy building solutions for potential new customers. During your time with our business solutions team, you will learn how to calculate how much storage space a customer needs, how to apply cost models to business tenders and the process of tendering for multi-million-pound contracts

5. Continuous Improvement
The Japanese concept of Kaizen guides everything we do at Yusen, we’re constantly asking: how can we do this better? With our internal CI team, you will: Map end to end processes, support our warehouse and transport operations to apply Kaizen principles and improve business productivity.

You will also be supported with formal and on the job training and will be matched to a high-level Mentor and Buddy.

About You

To be considered as a Graduate Trainee within our Graduate Programme, you will need:

- At a minimum, a 2:2 logistics or business degree (or equivalent) with an anticipated graduation date of summer 2024
- Great teamwork and communication skills
- A full, valid driving licence

Please note, you will need to be flexible and be prepared to move locations during the programme.
