Position: Cloud and Network Engineer

Location: Stockton-on-Tees

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum

An IT Cloud and Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing an organisation's cloud infrastructure and network systems. The role is crucial for ensuring the security, scalability, and reliability of IT services. Here are some key roles and responsibilities expected for this position:

Cloud Infrastructure Design and Deployment -

Architect Cloud Solutions: Design and implement cloud-based solutions that meet the organisation's requirements for scalability, performance, and security.
Deploy Cloud Services: Manage the deployment of cloud services across multiple environments (e.g., development, staging, production) using tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager.
Optimize Cloud Resources: Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficient performance.Network Infrastructure Management

Design and Implement Networks: Plan, design, and deploy enterprise-level network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud-based networking solutions.
Manage Network Security: Implement and maintain network security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs to protect against cyber threats.
Monitor Network Performance: Continuously monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.Security and Compliance

Implement Security Best Practices: Ensure that all cloud and network solutions adhere to industry best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Manage Identity and Access: Implement identity and access management (IAM) controls to manage permissions and secure access to cloud and network resources.
Conduct Security Audits: Regularly perform security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks.Automation and Scripting

Automate Deployment Processes: Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible) to streamline the deployment and management of cloud and network resources.
CI/CD Pipeline Management: Integrate cloud and network services into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to support DevOps practices.Troubleshooting and Support

Provide Technical Support: Act as the escalation point for complex cloud and network issues, providing advanced troubleshooting and resolution.
Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage disaster recovery solutions for cloud and network services, ensuring business continuity in case of failures.
Incident Response: Respond to security incidents and network outages promptly, coordinating with relevant teams to restore service.Collaboration and Communication

Work with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with software developers, IT administrators, and other stakeholders to align cloud and network strategies with business goals.
Document Infrastructure: Maintain detailed documentation of cloud and network configurations, processes, and procedures.
