A secondary based in Oldham is seeking a skilled and proactive Science Technician to join their vibrant Science Department. In this crucial role, you’ll support teaching staff by ensuring that practical science lessons are safe, effective, and inspiring for all students. We are looking for an individual with strong health and safety knowledge, ideally with experience in a school or Science department, who can contribute to delivering an outstanding science curriculum. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with both staff and students, fostering a love for science through well-prepared practical’s and a safe, supportive learning environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grades 4-9) or equivalent.
Working knowledge of health and safety practices, including COSHH regulations.
Experience working within a science department is preferred.
Experience in a school or similar educational environment is desirable.Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, set up, and organise equipment and materials for science experiments and practical lessons.
Ensure all practical science activities are conducted in line with health and safety regulations, including safe handling and disposal of materials.
Maintain and stock laboratory equipment, reporting any issues and managing inventory as needed.
Support teaching staff with classroom demonstrations and provide technical assistance during lessons.
Assist with maintaining a clean and organised laboratory environment, including the storage and upkeep of science materials and equipment.
Work collaboratively with the Science Department to ensure all students have access to high-quality practical learning experiences.
