Retail Sales Assistant

Our client, The Decorators Mate Ltd. Is a well-established decorating and DIY products supplier. They are seeking an enthusiastic Retail Sales Assistant. This role involves serving both trade and retail customers across their stores in Streatham Hill (SW2) and Wimbledon (SW19).

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for welcoming customers, offering product knowledge, and helping them find the right products. As this is a technical role, prior experience in a paint or DIY store is essential. Strong customer service skills, a solid understanding of retail operations, and the ability to upsell and cross-sell products are required.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping customers and committed to providing an outstanding shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities:

* Greet customers and provide excellent customer service.

* Assist customers with product selection and purchase decisions.

* Maintain a neat and orderly store environment.

* Process transactions quickly and accurately.

* Answer customer inquiries and provide product information.

* Maintain product displays and shelves.

* Stay updated on product knowledge and trends.

* Participate in on-site training for store-specific supervisory duties.

Deal Breakers – You Must:

* Have customer-facing experience in a DIY retail environment.

* Possess excellent English and communication skills.

* Be comfortable with heavy lifting and merchandising at height.

Working Hours & Requirements:

* Stores operate from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Saturday.

* The role requires working five full days per week on a rota, scheduled by the store manager.

* While overtime is not typically required, flexibility may be needed to cover staff shortages.

* A one-hour break is provided each day, with timing determined by the store manager.

* Mobile phones are not permitted on the shop floor and may only be used during allocated breaks.

* Strong attendance and punctuality are essential due to the small team environment.

* A staff uniform is provided and must be worn at work.

* The role involves lifting heavy objects and reaching for goods stored above head height.
