This Technician will report to the Site Supervisor and will work within UKPN Services based in our Gatwick Airport office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £44,489 plus Van and a bonus of 3%.
If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check

Job Purpose
The Technician role is to ensure delivery of all planned construction, maintenance and operations on works delivered from the Gatwick regional office. You will incorporate construction, maintenance and operational responsibilities and although based at Gatwick, there will be a requirement to visit other sites. You will work for the onsite Senior Authorised Person who is responsible for Safety and ensuring that there is no disruption to the electricity supply.
Principal Accountabilities
Construction and Maintenance of the UK Power Networks Services owned / operated assets through the range 33kV to 400v
Assist the Operational Engineers in meeting project programmes and budgets
Test protection systems and devices
Construction and Maintenance of the Control and Protection Systems
Ideally a HV Authorised Person with further possible progression to SAP
Operate and update Asset database in respect of project activities
Contribute to fault investigations and repairs.
Competent to enter substations and perform basic surveys
Ideally Authorised to operate on the high and low voltage systems and competent to receive safety documentation,
Competent to manage contractors,
Competent in site management (experience essential),
Maintain records of all completed operations, test sheets and safety documentation,
Undertake additional activities determined by the job level and competency
Responsibilities:
Assist the Operational Engineers in maintaining the very best in client relationships,
Embrace "Stay Safe" and "IPR" content,
Competent to write and follow the requirements detailed in Method Statements and Risk Assessments,
Compliance with UK Power Networks Services Procedures covering all matters related to Health, Safety, Quality and the Environment,
Report hazards and rectify.
Relevant Safety Qualification such as IOSH
Comply with UK Power Networks Services purchasing procedures,
Accurately complete timesheets and expenses claims,
Self-motivated and able to work with the minimum of supervision.
Attend and contribute to team briefings, meetings and committees,
To carry out any tasks commensurate to your grade and competency such as switchgear, transformer and battery installation and commissioning.
Subject to the correct competencies carry out LV fault locations and termination and jointing of LV cables.
Provide management of contractors and personnel.
Nature and Scope
The jobholder will be an important member of the Airport Sector's team and will work with departmental management.
You will in most cases report to the Site Supervisor and manage the delivery of the programmed works.
You will ensure that all operations are completed safely, on time and to budget.
Provide support within the team. Attend and contribute to team briefings, meetings and committees.
Essential Qualifications
Experience in Operational Construction and Maintenance.
5-year traceable work history.
Clear Criminal Record Check.
Obtain a Client Infrastructure Security Passes.
Medical and Drugs and Alcohol screening
Full drivers licence.
As a minimum a Competent Person ideally working towards Authorised Person status to switch on high and low voltage systems and to issue Limitations-of-Access
Experience with systems through the range 33kV to 400v
Fit and willing to be trained to work in confined spaces.
Either PASMA certified or able and willing to be trained for prefabricated scaffold erection
Compliance with UK Power Networks Services O&M Procedures relating to Health, Safety, Quality and the Environment.
Follow the requirements detailed in Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
Report hazards and rectify.
Flexible in resolving issues.
