Teaching Assistant (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs support)

Ages - Primary (Year 1 - 6) 

The School 

An Alternative Provision school based in Bournemouth are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant o start as soon as possible. The school caters for primary age pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as challenging behaviour.  

The Role

The successful SEMH Support Assistant will be required to work 1-1 or in small classes ranging from Year 1 to Year 6, assisting pupils academically as well as overcoming barriers to learning and supporting them emotionally. You will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of the students with various needs. You will work closely with the teaching staff and contribute to creating a safe, engaging, and stimulating learning environment. Your primary focus will be to encourage independence, promote positive behavior, and provide tailored support to meet the individual needs of the students.

Requirements 

The desired Teaching Assistant will have;

- Experience of working with primary school aged children

- Experience of working with pupils with SEND

- A passion for the progress of pupils

- An ability to work as part of a team
