Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)

Location: Central Portsmouth

Salary range: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Hours: 8.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday, term time only

If so, we would love to hear from you as we are recruiting for a truly dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work within a very small, specialist unit for pupils with an EHCP for Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in a reputable school in central Portsmouth.

Responsibilities of the role of SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEMH):

Your role as a Learning Support Assistant will be to support the well-being and development of each pupils individual learning needs; by supporting the class teachers and following child centered learning, whilst building trusting relationships and creating a safe environment.

You will work as part of a close team of specialist staff and you should have recent and up to date Safeguarding knowledge and training, enabling you to better support the welfare of each pupil. You will also have experience of de-escalation techniques and have the ability to engage young people with enthusiastic and encouraging activities.

Requirements:

* Ideally you will hold a relevant qualification in either teaching and learning or health and social care

* A passion and understanding of social, emotional and mental health needs, as well as behavioural needs including anxiety, depression and/or aggression or trauma

* Enhanced Level DBS

* A minimum of two employment references, with at least being childcare related to support your application
