Government Administrator / Full time/ Permanent / £42,000
My client, a local authority, are looking for an experienced government administrator to join them on a full-time basis. To be considered for this role you should be experienced in working within a public affairs environment and supporting local government teams. As a Government Administrator you should be a confident communicator who can provide strong administrative support to the group and effectively communicate between all departments.
Role and Responsibilities:
Assist with Group meetings by coordinating reports, preparing briefings, setting agendas, distributing papers, and organising logistics with the Chair and Secretary
Help prepare for Council meetings by drafting motions, amendments, and questions, coordinating speakers, and ensuring attendance with the Chief Whip
Build strong relationships with Council staff to stay updated on policy developments and support the Leader, Cabinet, and Group effectively
Provide high-quality briefings, research, and project support to the Leader, Cabinet, and Group members
Develop communications, messaging, and content, including speeches, articles, press releases, and social media, in collaboration with the Communications Team
Keep Group members informed about local, national, and London-wide issues, policies, and legislation
Facilitate engagement with external stakeholders and the community by organizing meetings, visits, and sharing information
Support Group training and development by organising sessions, discussions, and events
Provide administrative support for the Group and Leader’s Office, ensuring smooth operations and essential coverage as neededEssential Skills:
Previous experience in a similar position supporting local government/ public affairs
Ability to work to multiple deadlines that may be demanding
Experienced in working with and to policies
Able to work alongside politicians and senior leaders within government
Excellent written and oral communication skillsPackage:
£42,000 base salary
