We are seeking to recruit a motivated research assistant with a PhD degree and interest in bioinformatics or computational biology. The candidate will develop methods using liquid biopsy next generation sequencing data for cancer diagnostics.
About You
You need to have a strong background in next generation sequencing data analysis/machine learning, cancer and/or genome research, or closely related fields. Desired criteria include knowledge of the application of statistical methods for robust data analysis and the use of machine learning approaches for exploration and interpretation of biological/genomic data. You will be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and who is extremely organised. You will be able to work independently and interact well in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
About the Institute / About the Project
The Rosenfeld lab () at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London, pioneers new approaches for non-invasive molecular diagnostics and analysis of cancer genomes and evolution, using next-generation sequencing of circulating cell-free tumour DNA (ctDNA). We work with large collections of patient samples from different clinical studies, which we analyse by both genome-wide and targeted methods for sensitive mutation detection. We aim to develop novel tools for cancer diagnostics by developing improved methods and demonstrating clinical utility. Furthermore, we explore the biophysical properties of ctDNA with the aim of identifying its origins and interactions.
About Queen Mary
At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.
Throughout our history, we've fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it's simply 'the right thing to do' but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.
