The Role

Your role will include helping to implement care plans, providing emotional support, and assisting in day-to-day activities within a therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to patients with mental health conditions, including those with severe mental illness, anxiety, depression, and other psychological conditions.
  • Assist in developing and delivering care plans, ensuring they are tailored to the specific needs of each patient.
  • Support patients in group therapy sessions and one-on-one interactions, promoting recovery-focused approaches.
  • Monitor and report on patients' mental and physical well-being, including monitoring for any changes in behaviour or mood.
  • Assist patients with daily activities, personal care, and daily living tasks in a compassionate and respectful manner.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant mental health legislation.
  • Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients, providing a calming presence during times of distress.
  • Assist in de-escalating challenging situations and support patients in managing difficult behaviours.
  • Help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for both patients and staff, adhering to health and safety protocols and mental health policies.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, doctors, social workers, and therapists, to ensure holistic care for patients.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 6 months of experience working with mental health patients, ideally in a healthcare or mental health setting (e.g., hospital, inpatient unit, or community care).
  • Skills: Strong understanding of mental health conditions, with the ability to respond appropriately to patients' emotional and physical needs.
  • A compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused approach to care.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen actively and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism, resilience, and empathy.
  • Flexibility to work in various NHS mental health settings and across different shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and valid Right to Work in the UK.
  • Desirable: Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent mental health qualification.

Benefits

  • Flexibility: Choose from a range of shifts and locations that suit your availability, with options to work in both inpatient and community settings.
  • Competitive Pay: They offer a highly competitive hourly rate, paid weekly, with opportunities for overtime.
  • Ongoing Support: Access continuous support from their recruitment team to ensure you have the guidance you need throughout your assignments.
  • Training & Development: Opportunities for further training and development in mental health care, including courses on mental health conditions, crisis intervention, and safeguarding.
  • Variety: Work across different NHS facilities and mental health settings, gaining invaluable experience and developing your skills.
