We are seeking a dynamic and experienced CAD Manager to lead and develop our talented CAD team, ensuring excellence in production and continuous improvement in our processes.
Job Overview
As the CAD Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a small team of CAD engineers, working on 2D and 3D CAD designs for flat and tube laser cutting, folding, and fabrication. You will lead the team in producing high-quality work, managing workloads, and ensuring processes are followed. You will also be responsible for developing your team’s skills, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and playing an active role in hands-on CAD work when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor a small CAD team, fostering growth and maximising team potential.
- Ensure the production of accurate and timely 2D and 3D CAD designs for laser cutting, folding, and fabrication.
- Manage and prioritise the team’s workload, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld.
- Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency within the team.
- Identify, lead, and drive process improvements across the department.
- Perform hands-on CAD design work when required.
- Collaborate with other departments, including production and engineering, to ensure seamless operations and communication.
- Provide training and support to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Ensure adherence to company and industry standards, including quality control and health & safety.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a CAD Manager or in a similar leadership role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Expertise in 2D and 3D CAD, with a strong understanding of laser cutting, folding, and fabrication processes.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A proactive and improvement-focused mindset, with experience leading process improvements.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) is essential.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
