HGV Mechanic Position


We are seeking a highly skilled HGV Mechanic to join our team at Derbyshire County Council. As an HGV Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of motor vehicles, including heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and engineering plant.


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) vocational qualification in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance and repair operations and a valid full Driving Licence with a minimum of category B. Having a category C HGV licence and/or being a qualified MOT tester in Class 4, 5, and 7 would be advantageous for this role.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy goods vehicles and other transportation equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on complex vehicles.
  • Work efficiently and effectively within a team environment.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of technical knowledge and skills.

Requirements:



  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance and repair operations.
  • Valid full Driving Licence with a minimum of category B.
  • Desirable: Category C HGV licence and/or qualified MOT tester in Class 4, 5, and 7.
