Yateley, United Kingdom Carbon60 Full time

Carbon60 is a leading provider in the subsea sector, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of advanced technologies that empower clients to explore, navigate, measure, detect, and communicate in the most challenging environments on the planet: our oceans.

Role Overview

The primary objective is to deliver tailored engineering solutions to clients within the agreed timelines, budget constraints, and specifications while adhering to internal protocols for project execution, meeting necessary standards, and accommodating specific client documentation and communication requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute custom development projects within set timelines and budgets, ensuring that all projects are meticulously planned, resourced, and executed in accordance with internal guidelines.
  • Support proposal development and project validation by collecting and analyzing preliminary data from various internal and external stakeholders, including clients, GBMs, and engineers.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Project Management Plan that outlines project scope, tasks, milestones, deliverables, budget, stakeholders, risks, and other critical information essential for successful project delivery.
  • Create and maintain a project timeline utilizing an appropriate Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), clearly identifying milestones and review points. Ensure all tasks are completed and monitor project progress against the established baseline.
  • Track expenses against the approved budget, calculating Cost to Complete (CTC) and promptly addressing any deviations with management. Regularly report on expenditures and other key performance indicators in alignment with company protocols.
  • Ensure that detailed project requirements are generated, reviewed, and confirmed by stakeholders, leveraging expert resources across the organization when necessary. Validate that all requirements have been adequately verified and that the system's performance and characteristics are thoroughly documented.
  • Manage project-related risks by identifying, documenting, assessing, and mitigating them whenever feasible, escalating to senior management as needed.
  • Lead and engage in both internal and external gateway reviews, ensuring that all actions are documented and completed promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with both internal and external customer standards and procedures throughout all project activities.
  • Deliver customer-specific project documentation, including manuals, manufacturing records, interface specifications, handling/storage procedures, and test & inspection plans.
  • Provide timely and comprehensive communication to all stakeholders, both internal and external, who have a direct or indirect interest in the project.
  • Conduct project closeout reviews to capture lessons learned that can inform future process and procedural improvements.

Required Experience and Skills

  • A degree in Engineering (BSc/BEng) or a related field.
  • Project management certification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE 2, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated project management experience within an engineering context.
  • Proven ability to achieve results through collaboration within a matrix organization.
  • Extensive experience in direct client engagement, delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Strong planning and organizational capabilities, including work scheduling, prioritization, and multitasking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable work approach.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
